WordPress is a free and open-source website creation platform, also known as a content management system (CMS), written in PHP that uses a MySQL database. Furthermore, it is considered as the most powerful and easiest blogging and website builder that exists nowadays.
WordPress is a versatile CMS that allows you to create a variety of websites, from blogging to an e-commerce, business or portfolio websites, to achieve these different types of website WordPress is divided into 3 essential parts:
- Core: This part is WordPress itself, and it’s free and downloadable.
- Themes: There are many free themes, but there are also paid resources outside the repository, these themes can be used to change the look of the website.
- Plugins: These tools extend the capabilities of WordPress with utilities, from something simple, to entirely change the operation of the web. There are plugins to share on social networks, to have an online store, to improve the performance of the site, to create widgets, etc.
